Before we get to the actual announcement, let me thank all the individuals who sent in their entries.  It was great to get a sense of what the show has meant to people over the years.  We’re sincerely hoping to continue that tradition in years to come as we grow and become able to offer even bigger and better experiences.

All right.  Enough waiting.  Drumroll please.

The winner of our Planet Comicontest 2013 and two free adult weekend passes is…

WILLIAM BUNN

In case you missed it the first time around, this is what William had to say about his best memory of Planet Comicon.

It is not hard to recall my greatest memory of Planet Comicon as it was the 1st time we attended the event in 2009.  I am a life-long Star Wars fan and at the time my daughter was 3 years old.  She had a kids book titled “What is a Wookie” that she took everywhere and made any adult in her path read to her.  When I found out Chewbacca himself was going to be attending, I wanted to take her to see him.  We had a medal made that resembled the one Chewbacca got passed at the end of Ep 4.  Once at the convention, we approached Mr. Mayhew, and I explained that my princess would like to give him a medal.  She put it around his neck, and he later read from the Wookie book to her.  Peter and his wife, Angie, offered to watch her while my wife and I walked around.  Normally I wouldn’t leave my child with a stranger, but I felt I created my own “Let the Wookie Win” moment.  We only left for a short while and upon returning we saw our daughter working the booth, helping sell Chewbacca photos.  In the end, she gave Chewbacca a giant-sized hug which says a lot about his kindness because she is normally shy around strangers.  Peter and Angie Mayhew were wonderful and just when I thought my Star Wars adventure was over, Planet Comicon showed me it had only just begun.  Thank you.

William, we’ll be contacting you directly to get you information on how to claim your tickets.  Thanks for sharing with us, and thanks for the great photo.
